UGFUZZ YOU'LL NEED: 1 small plastic-foam box White crafts glue Dryer lint (or cotton balls, pipe cleaners, strips of ribbons, tissue paper, pom-poms, polyester fiberfill, and fabric strips) Construction paper Scissors Tape Pencil 1 bendable plastic drinking straw STEP 1 Use the front of the box, where it opens, as the mouth. To make the fur, spread some glue over part of the box. Firmly press a piece of dryer lint into the glue. Then keep gluing dryer lint onto the sides and top of the box until it is covered. STEP 2 Use construction paper to cut the out eyes and teeth and tape them to the box. STEP 3 With adult help, use a pencil to punch a hole near the center to the bottom of the box. Push the bendable end of the straw partway through the hole. Then bend the straw and tape it to the inside of the top of the box. Finally, push up on the straw to make the monster's mouth open. Grrrr! That's an ugfuzz! FOR GROWN-UPS: Try adding teeth to your character. To help get younger kids started, offer suggestions such as giving the monster 1, 2, or 3 eyes. Or, try putting the eyes on the sides or back of the head. Printed from Cool Crafts ©1994 Meredith Corporation and Multicom Publishing
